Roundabouts

RotondasPronounced rroh-TOHN-dahs

Yield before entering, move counterclockwise, and let the posted lane arrows settle any question about lane choice.

Official traffic controls and police directions always take precedence. Live weather, closures, and rental policies can change.

The entry rule

Slow down and yield to vehicles already circulating. Enter only when there is a usable gap, keeping the central island on your left as you move counterclockwise.

Choose the lane from the signs

Multi-lane roundabouts are not all arranged alike. Follow the approach arrows and destination signs, choose before you enter, and avoid cutting across a lane at the exit.

Stay predictable

Maintain a steady speed, signal for your exit when appropriate, and keep circulating if you miss it. Stopping inside the roundabout to reverse a mistake creates a new hazard.
